Winter Trend Spy – Big, Blue and Furry

This week we’ve got trendy friend, Chloe, giving us a little more fashion forecasting for the season. Big, Blue and Furry sounds grand to me! Over to you, Chloe …

I don’t know what the weather is like where you are but in Scotland the weather gods just don’t seem to know what to do with themselves. Horrible rainstorms have been flooding the country, and the first flurry of snow has already fallen in Cairngorms. Awful for all those grumbly commuters of course, but let’s look on the bright side: it’s finally time to start looking for a new winter coat!

After searching for a jacket that will withstand even the most horrible weather but will not make me look like I’ve grown 5 sizes overnight, I came across some trends for the coming autumn and winter. Mabel has already mentioned the tartan trend, but there’s more!

Trends for Autumn/Winter 2013/2014

The first trend for the coming months is a fairly simple one: the colour blue. Navy blue and other darker shades are especially popular but you can combine this with another top trend for this season – the oversized coat. So much for looking slim. However, they just look so comfy and irresistible! Lovely to hide in during serious rain – or a snowstorm. Remember last year? Brrrr… The oversized coats are available in many shapes and sizes, including some with furry details.

Speaking of fur: the (fake) fur coat, in colours I definitely hope no exotic animal has, will be making another comeback this autumn. The fluffiness of the coats is almost palpable through your monitor. Of course these coats have an added extra: if you don’t feel like wearing them, you can always spread them out in front of the fireplace and pretend you’re a very rich old lady who just has eccentric furry things lying around. Fur coats, real or not, can be a bit expensive though, so if you’re thinking of purchasing one it can’t hurt to search the internet for a bit of a discount – sites like Voucherbox will often have voucher codes for (online) clothing stores.

Check out these high-street buys that take on all three trends – big, blue AND furry. My, oh my.
