Punctuality and Mabel Revealed

Posted on

This weekend I took a little trip east with some girlfriends to see the one and only Madonna or MDNA as she seems to go by these days. I feel like I should be upfront and say that I’m not a huge fan of Madonna’s music or rather any of the music she’s released in recent years. No denying she had some absolute tunes in the 80s and early 90s. La Isla Bonita anyone?! But let’s be honest that song she did with Ali G in the video (I think it was something about putting your records on) was not the material girl’s finest hour. Anyway regardless my friends were all going and I had high hopes for a great night. And it did not disappoint. A few drinks, a nice dinner, live music and a group of friends is pretty much an ideal night for me, though I think I’m going to have to wait for the greatest hits tour to hear her back catalogue of hits and for the musos amongst us I heard that the sound in Murrayfield is not the best. Needless to say it didn’t spoil my night and I danced my ass off to Like a Prayer. Good. Times.

However, while I bow down to Lady Gaga Mark 1 for her stamina (she could definitely outrun me despite being almost old enough to be my mother, though that may say more about me), after rocking up a good forty minutes late it is clear that punctuality isn’t her strong suit. I guess no-one get’s everything and I can most certainly relate to this fault. I once read that Marilyn Monroe said: ‘I’ve been on a calendar, but never on time’. Now I’ve never been on any kind of calendar, but the second half of that statement definitely rings true. Time keeping has never been a strength of mine. It’s awful really. I really should work on turning over a new leaf though because lateness really is the height of rudeness isn’t it? It says that my time is more important than yours and so it’s okay for me to keep you waiting. But it’s not okay, is it? My time isn’t more important than yours, and surely I can drag myself away from doing what is 99 percent of the time probably the most unnecessary task to make sure I’m there on the dot. Surely. I live in hope.

MISS IT, MISS OUT: Now I’m not exactly sure this falls into this category but you really should check out the ‘About Me’ page of the site. It’s had a little bit of an overhaul and I’m excited to report that Mabel has decided it’s time that she reveals herself. It’s a big step. Anyway, click HERE to read more.

COMING UP THIS WEEK: We’ll be talking nursery decorating, continuing our Spanish food adventure, giving away neon nails, talking gym gear, and giving the deck chair a massive high five. It’s going to be a good’un.

Have a good week. I hear the weather’s going to make a turn for the better for all you southerners. Enjoy it!

Love,

Mabel x
